Modern Shower for Baby Maren!

OH.. how I have waited so long to be able to throw Michelle and Marc the ultimate baby shower. They have been trying a long time for this sweet miracle baby and I was so thrilled to plan this shindig for them. They honestly are going to be the best parents and I can't wait to love on baby Maren. 

This shower came together perfectly with the help of some fabulous friends. We knew Michelle loved modern, clean prints and her style has always had a modern flair to it. Her nursery colors are coral and a turquoise blue so we conceptualized the shower based on those two things. 

This one was another couples shower which are always so fun to plan and attend. We did a late shower on Saturday and served desserts, cocktails and mocktails. It definitely was a successful and fun shower b/c we did not end up leaving until 1:00 in the morning. We all had the BEST time celebrating the Yount's. 

Here are some more details about the party... 
Little Posh Studio designed our invitations and all of our printables for the party. They were fabulous to work with and we loved how it all turned out. 

 I found the fabric and knew that it was perfect for Michelle. We stuck with the square trellis and chevron prints throughout the entire shower. I used white vases everywhere and arranged coral flower arrangements for all the tables. 


The fabulous "M" was the luckiest find. I found it at a flea market in a booth all by itself. There were no other letters in the booth just this gigantic "M" for 15$!



Dessert Table
I found these square modern shelves at a flea market and painted them white. They were the perfect addition to their dessert table. 















 For party favors we bought these cute coffee mugs from Crate and Barrel and filled them with individual coffee bags. 



I have to say this was the hit of the party. We made a book for baby Maren that was titled "From all your crazy aunts and uncles" and took some CRAZY funny pictures with a polaroid. After the pictures were taken we taped them to a page in the book and wrote a message to the baby. Let's just say that we definitely lived up to the title of our book.. Take a look..

Flea Market Friday

Here are some fun finds from around town this week... 

This painting is SOOOO cool in person. It is probably 7 feet tall, it's huge! It's also a little pricey but if you have a bigger budget for a nursery, this would be a major statement piece.  (At Retro in Rogers)

This is a great dining room or kitchen table. It was only 50$ b/c it needed a glass top still but it was a great looking table. (this was at Flying Dog in Fayetteville)

Adorable pink side chair. Only 25$! (Daisies and Olives)

 If anyone is about to do a big boy or girl room for their toddler, this was a cute twin bed. (Summit Hill Cottage)

 These chairs were 50$ each and I think would be awesome reupholstered. Great shape. (Precious Cargo)

 This is actually a really nice sofa table that is Long and a great size for the price. It is 80$ and would definitely look amazing repainted. (Precious Cargo)

I was obsessed with this mirror and I would have bought it if it came in a pair. It has major character and you can tell in person that is worth a lot. (at the flea market next to Precious Cargo)

Stocking your shelves..

I have been working with some stellar people and one of my clients wanted me to makeover her new bookshelves in their newly built house. I was excited to take on the project. I will do a part reveal today and show the rest when the mantle is complete!

Here are the some things I tried to remember as I was doing this project.. 

1. Pick a color palette that will flow with the room. She wanted a pop of color but wanted to stay simple with the colors. That is where the green and little pop of yellow comes in. The room will be mostly neutral so I love the subtle color palette in these shelves. 

2. STAY SIMPLE, in my opinion and in my taste, the more simple the better it looks. It's okay if there is a little space between your accessories. 

3. Flea markets will save you money! I didn't spend much money at all on this project b/c I took my time and went to all the flea markets to find the good deals. Especially if you are starting from scratch like I did with these shelves, flea market shopping pays off! 

4.  Use Texture. I love the texture that was added when I used the big baskets on the bottom. 

5. Start with your heaviest, bulkiest or largest items on bottom i.e. Baskets. The flow of the shelves make sense when you start with big on bottom! 

I am by no means a  Know-it-all in the interior design department. I have SOOO much to learn. But I will definitely share the little that I do know and the little things that I think about when I am pulling off a completed look in a space. These things are not anything I learned in a class or even from a real interior designer they are just some of the tricks that I used this time for completing these particular shelves.

When did he grow up??

Today is my firstborn's first day of preschool....
How did he so quickly go from this.. 



TO THIS?! 

Today is a big day for several reasons. Since his health problems and since the doctors ordered us to take him out of nurseries and mothers day out this will be his first time back in this type of setting. I was so super nervous since he has been attached to me for over a year 1/2 but he did so wonderful. 
Besides the initial fit when I dropped him off b/c he wanted to play basketball right away instead of going into the classroom, after a few seconds and a few tears, he confidently went into the classroom and gave me a hug and a kiss and happily waved goodbye to me. I saved my tears until I got into the parking lot, but I was one proud mama. 

My prayer for this school year is that he learns a ton, makes new friends and even grows up in his little faith. He will be learning bible verses and bible stories every day and I can't wait to see what God does in his little heart this year. 

"And I pray that you, being rooted and esatblished in love, may have power together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge-that you may be filled to the measure of all the fullness of God." Ephesians 3:17-19
