Happy New Year!

Happy New Year to all of you!
Thank you for making this such a special year for Katie Grace Designs! I have enjoyed this first year of blogging and look forward to many more! I appreciate every comment, every follower and every encouraging word you have sent my way over the past 8 months.
Have a safe and happy New Years Eve and I look forward to getting back into the swing of things next week!

Christmas Part I

Christmas feels like a whirlwind. It has been such a special two weeks, spending tons of time with family, relaxing, getting well, eating and just enjoying my favorite time of year. I ended up getting sick a couple of weeks ago and fled to my parent's house to get help. I was sick for a a full week and so I started my christmas break early because of the circumstances. After I was well we spent Christmas with Andrew's family and then the day after Christmas my entire family drove to LR to spend a few days together. We had such a wonderful time celebrating our Savior's birth and spending quality time together.  We had the BEST time watching Sawyer this year and he could not have been more spoiled and could not have had more fun.
Here is a recap of some of our Christmas! Tomorrow will be PART 2, showing tons of cousin pictures and showing Christmas festivities we had with my family.

 Chenal Country club Christmas

 Brooke and sweet baby Jack
 Papa and Dae
 Cousin Train

Henry Brothers and their gorgeous wives
Our tradition is to open Christmas Pj's on Christmas eve. He was so excited to open the first present.

Christmas baby

One of a million presents he got this year! This child got mega spoiled by all of the grandparents!

Christmas wore these two out! This is how we came down stairs to find them. So sweet!

My favorite present ever! Jan (mother in law) had this sketched for us. It is so special and I can't wait to find the perfect place to hang it.

That's it for now! Happy New years to everyone!

French Inspired Christmas Breakfast

Tobi Fairley is a local designer here in Arkansas, but she is definitely known worldwide. She is one of my favorite interior designers. She has the most unique eye for detail and she has an eye for color that is impeccable.

She recently shared details of a french inspired Christmas brunch she hosted for her family. The details are to die for! Check it out and then go check out her blog to see her vimeo that shares more details on this gorgeous gathering.

Pretty cute right?! I loved every detail.
Happy Wednesday!

A Little Crafting

I have been doing a small amount of crafting since I have moved in. Sadly with a couple of the things I made I didn't take pictures of the actual process but I'll try and vividly explain so you can recreate if you like it!

My first creation was made because I was needing a place to store my long necklaces. Does anyone else struggle with where to put your jewelry? I have never been happy with my jewelry scenario... So here was my solution.
All you need is:
1. Frame
2. spray paint
3. fabric
4. roll of cork board (Found at Hobby Lobby where the bulletin boards and white boards are)
5. scissors
6. staple gun
7. push pins

1. Spray paint your frame the color you desire (I used ivory spray paint)
2. Cut the cork board to fit the frame (I did two layers of cork b/c it is pretty flimsy) and then cover with the fabric cutting off the excess fabric.
3. staple gun the fabric cork board to the back of your frame
4. use push pins to hang your jewelry
5 hang away!

Now for Another Holiday Craft!

Here is my version of a cute snowman!
All you need for this guy:
1. three different size grapevine balls
2. hot glue gun
3. Strips of burlap fabric
4. sprigs of evergreen for arms
5. hat for snowman ( I made mine, but you could use whatever you have lying around)

1. Find the flatter areas on the balls to hot glue together. Hot glue the medium size ball to the large one and then the smaller ball to the medium one. Let it dry
2. cut a strip of fabric and tie around the neck for the scarf
3. Stick evergreen in for the arms
I had to nudge my snowman in the middle of some evergreen to make sure he stayed standing. Makes for a completed centerpiece too!
Voila! Grapevine Snowman!

What we are up to!

Well unfortunately I am sick today. I felt it coming on yesterday and Andrew had been sick so sure enough I was up all night coughing like crazy, I now have a fever and also have completely lost my voice. I tried to talk to Andrew on the phone a minute ago and literally sound was barely coming out. Thankfully Sawyer has MDO today so Andrew is going to the christmas party at his school and then bringing him home to me so I don't have to get out. Hopefully S will take a good nap after that.''

Besides that we have been busy, busy! We were in LR this weekend to visit family and then came back for some parties we had this week. I am glad we came back home because I got my new curtains in the mail so we put the finishing touches on our apartment living room. Here is a peek into our new little home!

Besides Sawyer running into things all the time we are enjoying it so far.

Sawyer is doing much better with the transition. He is starting to go to bed better every night and is back to my happy, silly and content boy.

"Say cheese Sawyer" and this is what he gives me! Doesn't quite have it yet.
That's better!

We are gearing up for the Christmas festivities and can't wait!!
Have a good day!

Winter Dream

All I can say is WOW, WOW, WOW! I had to pick my jaw up from the ground after seeing this wedding on Dale Benfield's blog. Benfield photography is the mastermind behind the beautiful photos and the event was coordinated by Junkerman and Jones. They all did a FABULOUS job and it looks like this wedding truly was a winter dream.

If this doesn't bring you Christmas or Holiday inspiration, I don't know what will. :) Hope you enjoyed!
Thanks Dale for letting me share your gorgeous photos!

P.S. Check out Tatertots and Jello to see my guest post tutorial!

Family Pictures 2010

The AMAZING Chelsea Sloneker took our family pictures this year and I could not be more pleased. She literally captured these photos in forty minutes and with a 20 month old to me seems impossible but she managed quite well in my opinion!

Thanks Chelsea!!!

Merry Christmas from our family to yours!
