Tis the Season!

My favorite part of the year has officially started! I am so sad though because as much as I love this holiday season and as busy as I want to be planning parties, I am now in the middle of moving out of our house that we have been in for almost 5 years. We are relieved to have sold it but it's also been quite a special house for our family. Anyway, I am excited to get all of this done so I can resume quickly with HOLIDAY blogging! But for now excuse my sparse blogging and I look forward to returning quickly.

Happy Holidays!!

DIY Ribbon Turkey Cupcake Toppers

Here is a little last minute Thanksgiving project you can pull out before the big day. This is a project you could do with the kiddos or if you are like me you just do it for yourself. ha!
These could be used as cupcake toppers or you could use it for any part of your Thanksgiving decor. They'd also make cute name cards for the kids table.

What you'll need:
-Brown scrapbook paper
- Two circle punches (I used 1 7/8 inch and a smaller 1 1/2 inch)
- 9 strips of red, yellow and orange ribbon cut roughly about 4 inches
- 1 small strip of yellow ribbon for beak
- two small buttons for eyes
- grapevine or rope for feet
- glue gun
- lollipop sticks or wooden skewers

1. punch out the two sizes of circles from the brown paper

2. put a small dot of hot glue at the end of one of the strips of ribbon and glue the two ends together making a loop

 3. glue the looped ribbon to the edge of the Larger circle. Repeat process with remaining 8 pieces of ribbon, alternating colors.

 4. fill the circle until 3/4 full

 5. Hot glue the small circle to the edge of the lopped ribbons.
6. glue the buttons on for eyes and the remaining small yellow ribbon for the beak

7. hot glue the rope or grapevine pieces to the back of the turkey for legs.
8. Hot glue on your skewer or lollipop stick.

Gobble, Gobble!!

Happy Tuesday!

Little Miss Birthday Girl

I had the pleasure of helping one of my dear friends, Haley with a few minor details for her daughter's first birthday. Haley definitely pulled out all the stops to celebrate Stella's first birthday. I absolutely loved the theme because I really haven't seen it done before. She used the theme "Little Miss Stella is turning one" (from the Little Miss books) and picked fun, bright colors to accent the party. Here are a few of the details of Stella's big day!

I loved this wreath that Haley made herself! I think maybe Haley should do a tutorial for us, what do you think?

Dessert table
We superglued fabric to the back of this vintage window frame. I love how it turned out!

Haley made a "little miss" board with all the different title's like "Little miss Happy", "Little Miss funny", etc... and put pictures of Stella's first year to coordinate with the word. I thought it was so sweet.

How cute is her smash cake?? Almost too cute to smash.

Haley purchased these adorable favor bags from Perideau Designs and she filled them with different Mr and Little miss books.
This was my son's bag and book. Pretty cute huh?

Haley has more pictures and more details to share about this party so head over to her blog to see the rest!

Thanks Haley for letting me share some of the details and it was so fun working with you!

Tribute to Mahan Drive

We are saying "Goodbye" to the place we have called home for over 4 years. We have been trying to sell our house for over a year for financial reasons and it finally sold. Of course we are relieved but I have been so down about saying good bye to this wonderful home.

It has been a house of many firsts. The first house my husband and I ever built, the house I found out I was pregnant with my first baby, the house that I had my first Kitchen fire (oops!), the first place we brought our first child home from the hospital. Sawyer's first steps, first times to crawl and first words have all taken place in this home. We have hosted countless parties, bonfires, slumber parties, playdates, dinner gatherings, community groups and holiday celebrations in this home. There has been countless nights spent on our deck in our beautiful woods talking to friends, talking out spousal disputes, cuddling with our Sawyer bear and drinking wine.

We have loved this house and we will miss it greatly. We are excited to see what God has in store in the coming months and for now we are calling a small two bedroom apartment home until we know what the heck we are doing! I am excited and ready for a new adventure.

As for the next couple weeks I will be busy moving and organizing since we are moving completely out in about a week.

Here is our beloved Mahan home and  just a few of the memories made here.

Check it out!

For those of you who don't read my other blog, I would love for you to go check out all of the fun things that happened this week! It has been a big week for KGD. Thanks for your support!

Big Week!

For those of you who follow my facebook page, I apologize because this might be OVERKILL! But I had to share with those who may not follow on FB. This week has seriously been AMAZING. I had 3 incredible features that are definitely worth mentioning!

First, I got an email yesterday from Jenn with Hostess with the Mostess and she informed me that she featured my Fall Celebration! So exciting! My first HWTM feature and I could not be more thrilled. To see the wonderful post, check it out HERE.

Second, I found out two days ago that my pinecone chandeliers were featured on Dollar Store Crafts. I absolutely love that blog so it was a huge honor. To see that post, check it out HERE.

Third was the Apartment Therapy post. I just have to mention that Apartment Therapy was the first blog I ever got into reading over two years ago. I didn't really even know what blogging was two years ago but I had some friends who were constantly telling me about things they found or read at Apartment Therapy and it was the first one I ever kept up with, So to be featured on this site is so fun for me :) To see that post, check it out HERE.

Thanks for sharing in these fun successes and I thank all of you for your constant support! This is such a fun job but you all make it that much better!
Happy Friday!

Giving Thanks

Thanksgiving is around the corner! Why not put a little creativity into your Thanksgiving celebration this year? Here are a few fun ideas that definitely share the most important part of this season... Giving Thanks.

I love these DIY mason jar candles! They definitely are a statement piece.
Jen with Hostess with the Mostess created this cute and creative centerpiece.

I love this idea! I found this idea through Shannon's blog. This would be a great family project. Every day you think of things you are thankful for and write them on a card in each slot. Here is the the full  tutorial.

I am in love with this centerpiece! (Parents.com

Hope this gives you inspiration to think outside the box this Thanksgiving!
 Happy Thursday!
